Villas versus package?

Most people have been on one, and if you are not one of them, then you will probably know someone who has. I am talking about the good old package holiday. It is probably the 'safest' and most widely used holiday generally. This type of holiday has been around for a good deal of time. However, are times changing? There is another option now that is being used more and more, and sometimes works out costing a fraction of the price.
Villa holidays are now taking precedence over traditional package holidays. More and more people are now booking a villa holiday, and further more they are booking directly or with the website that is offering the holiday.
There are of course pros and cons to both type of holidays. The package holiday is undoubtedly the safe option especially when it is ABTA approved and gives you a sense of security when booking knowing that you do have the added guarantee that if anything is wrong with the holiday you have some governing body to complain to and for that peace of mind you pay a premium for this. Travel Agents charge customers per person for their holidays.
One of the cons if you like, to booking a villa holiday is you do not have the guarantee of the governing body, you deal directly with the person that owns the property therefore you cut out the middle man. Instead of paying a per person price for your holiday you pay for the villa or apartment as a whole no matter how many people are travelling.
You can follow a few simple steps, however to protect yourself when booking a villa holiday.
First of all, always speak to the villa owner by telephone rather than just banging off an e-mail. Have a list of questions written down that you want clarified. Therefore, if these are not answered to your satifaction you do not have to book the villa. It is really important to get written confirmation before you send your deposit or full payment.
If you are still feeling unsure about booking with a certain villa owner contact the website you found it on and speak to them directly. So hopefully, by following these few simple rules you should have a great holiday as a result!
