Yes, it is true. The world's first underwater hotel will be located in Fiji, resting at 40 feet below the water surface, covering 51 sq meters of the Pacific Ocean's seabed. It will be located within a 5000 acres coral lagoon, off the coast of a 225 acres tropical island. Perhaps sci-fi a few decades ago, today it is reality - thanks to US Submarines president Bruce Jones who is heading the project.

underwater-hotel.jpgIt is called the Poseidon Undersea Resorts and will be accessible with an elevator. Part of the resort will however be built on the island and in total there will be 24 beachfront bungalows, 24 bungalows suspended above water and 24 Undersea Suites, all sinking in utmost luxury.

The cost per person/per week will be 15,000 USD$ and guests will spend two days under the sea and four on the island. While sojourning at an amazing tropical island, with all modern comforts and first-rate service is by itself startling, the crème de la crème of the experience is of course the stay in the resort's submerged part.

The Undersea Suites will have glass roofs and windows so that visitors can watch the sea and its wildlife while lying on their bed… They will be designed as semi-separated units, like atoms in a molecule, so that guests and the ocean are left in a very private relationship, isolated form the rest of the world... The restaurants and bars will also be surrounded with glass so that one can gaze stunningly at the abundant underwater life while having a drink or a meal.

Guests will be able to engage in many unique underwater activities as well such as learning how to drive a small submarine in the ocean, walk on the seafloor with special high-tech diving equipment and explore the deep reefs while having a cocktail aboard the hotel's luxurious submarine. Above water activities will also be available such as beachfront water-sports, naturalistic tours, cave exploration and even discovering our cosmos through a refractor telescope.

Reservations are about to start so hurry up and become one the first to live underwater!!
