This year's edition of the Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) will be held in Matadero Madrid - a former slaughterhouse that's being converted to the Spanish capital's biggest centre for contemporary creation - from October 24 to November 5.

During two weeks, 60 selected musical mavericks from all around the world, will be inmersed in recording sessions, lectures by musical totems and late night jams.

However, not all the RBMA events are focused on nurture new talents. The general public can also enjoy from multiple performances by both new and well-known artists during the two weeks of the RBMA, what puts Madrid right in the centre of the international music agenda.

Among the big names to perform in the RBMA are Peaches, Tom Ze, Chic, Senor Coconut and Matias Aguayo.

There will be open lectures and gigs all around the city. Apart from Matadero, classic spots of the capital such as Siroco, Kapital, La Casa Encendida or Museo Reina Sofia, will held RBMA nights.

From the UK will be no less than eight academy participants showcasing a true cross section of musical styles from techno to IDM or r&b to funk among others. DJ/Producers Doc Daneeka, Nightwave, xxxy and Om Unit line-up alongside instrumentalists Krystal Klear, Ronika, Claude Speed and Raisa Khan.

London-based DJ/Producer Maya Medvesek AKA Nightwave has said about the RBMA: "I'm very honoured to be going. Honoured to be one of the 60 chosen out of 4,000. We get to use studios, we get lectures, we make music ourselves and with other people and then we party at night for two weeks."

Sao Paulo, Rome, Berlin, London and New York have been venues for previous academy editions. Madrid was this year's last-minute choice after the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan in early 2011 - what made the initial setup of Tokyo inviable.
